Baby Bedding Reviews
When I was expecting my second child eight years after the first, I needed to purchase all new baby furniture. After five years, I didnt think I would have another baby and gave all my stuff away. Well my mother-in-law made my baby furniture shopping easy because she bought me my sons crib. When she found a crib she liked, she asked me to go look at it before she purchased it. She wanted to make sure I liked it first. The crib she picked out was the Oak EvenFlo Jenny Lind Crib.
To the store I went to check out this crib. I first did some research on the internet. I read many positive things about the Jenny Lind Crib but it is always the bad that sticks in your mind. I read that one person had problems with the side staying up and that it was cheaply made. Well of course I didnt want a crib that my new baby could possibly fall out of. I made hubby come along so we could make the right decision.
At first sight, I liked the look of the Jenny Lind Crib. It didnt look cheaply made. It looked like the more expensive models but with a cheaper price tag. Of course I was not willing to take any chances so hubby went over it with a fine tooth comb. We both were satisfied that not only was it a nice looking crib (hubby could have cared less about that part) but also a safe environment for our new baby and we gave Grammie the OK.
About a week later, the box was in my nursery and hubby was ready to set it up. Hubby had it set up in about a half an hour (with no cursing) so it must not have been that difficult or contrary to set up.
The Lind Crib is made of wood with stabilizer bars. It measured 55 inches long by 31 inches wide by 45 inches high. The crib has a five-position, posture-perfect mattress support and childproof rail release. It has four wheels on each leg for easy mobility. The one side of the crib lowered for easy sheet changing.
When hubby set up the crib, he put the mattress setting on the lowest setting and we never changed it. We never truly tested the five mattress positions. So we have no experience on if it is easy or not to change the settings. If you would use the mattress settings you would want to keep it at the highest setting when the baby is first born and move it down as your baby gets older.
As I stated earlier, the one side of the crib lowered for ease in changing of the sheets. There is a child proof rail release on it that you need to press to lower the side. I never had any problems with the rail coming down when my son was in the crib. He even tried crawling over the rail a few times and it held up to his weight.
The Jenny Lind Crib can be purchased at Babies R Us. I dont recall what the price was since we werent paying for it. With searching online, I did find it on sale for $79.99.
This is just silly but I cant believe that this crib didnt come with a mattress. Maybe all cribs are like that but I just found that odd. I assumed they would come with a mattress. Grammie had to go out and purchase that separately. This was not an issue, she was able to find a standard crib mattress that fit perfectly.
The crib came in three different colors. There was White, Cherry and Oak (which is what we got). This makes it easy to purchase for any nursery.
My son used this crib for a year and a half. The only reason he moved into a big boy bed that early was because he wanted to be like big brother. He could have stayed in his crib for a few more months if needed, but he didnt want to. Now his cousin uses the crib. (We are definitely done having children!) It withstood my son and still looks like new.
The only bad thing I can say about this crib is that I did have problems with crib toys. There were a few crib toys that I could not get to stay on this crib. I dont know if it was because of the design or what, but there were a few toys that wouldnt stay on the rails.
The Jenny Lind Crib is easy to clean. I would wipe it off with a swiffer once a week and it stayed bright and shiny.
If purchasing the Jenny Lind Crib, they do have a whole line of baby furniture. This is was an important factor for us since I needed all new furniture. I wanted my furniture to match. Grammie bought us the crib and the changing table. In my opinion, the line is attractive looking and not too costly.
The Jenny Lind Crib is made by EvenFlo. EvenFlo is a name that I have known for years. EvenFlo to me means baby. I have many other EvenFlo products and have always been pleased with them. They make quality baby items.
Our Jenny Lind Crib has been around for over three years now and is still going strong. Maybe I will get some more nieces and/or nephews that can use the crib in the future. (I can hope!)
Let me put your mind at ease- the few bad things I heard about the Jenny Lind crib before I purchased it were not true in our case. Our crib was a quality crib that I was confident would keep my child safe.
If you are in the market for a quality crib that wont hurt your pocketbook, I highly recommend Evenflos Jenny Lind Crib. You and your baby will get a good nights sleep with a Jenny Lind Crib.
